Camino del Sol Residence

Santa Fe, New Mexico

This property is located on the side of a steep hill overlooking Santa Fe. The house was designed with an entry courtyard as well as a secret, hidden interior courtyard. Upon entering the house one steps into an art gallery/hallway. At the south end of the gallery is a massive, three foot thick stone wall with a small window set into it. This window is aligned to Sun Mountain. At the other end of the gallery/hallway is the secret, interior courtyard. In contrast to the thick stone wall is a floor to ceiling, wall to wall, single sheet of glass. It gives the appearance that the secret courtyard is actually inside the house.

The home is constructed of two foot thick adobe walls with Doug Fir beams in the ceiling, concrete floors and polished, hand plastered interior walls.
